Cake Pops!

 I finally had the opportunity to make Cake Pops, so I tested it out with my sister. I wasnt so sure how they would actually turn out but they actually exceeded my expectations ! They look so cute and taste AMAZING. No joke. Such a cute party dish, you take these somewhere and people will be complimenting you on your baking talents left, right, and center ! Heres the recipe;

Ingredients
  • box of Betty Crocker Cake mix (or desired brand of cake mix)
  • 3 cans of cream cheese frosting
  • eggs/oil according to instructions on cake mix
  • large baking sheet
  • sprinkles
  • piece of Styrofoam ( you need to be able to stick the popsicle sticks in it)
  • popsicle sticks

Directions

  1. Follow the instructions on the back of your cake mix and bake your cake as you normal would.
  2.  Once cake is done, let it cool completely
  3.  Now, Crumble your cake into a large cooking bowl. There should be no large chunks. Aim for breadcrumb-like texture
  4. Add in one can of frosting directly into your bowl of cake crumbs. Mix thoroughly until consistently blended.
  5. Take a bit of cake mixture and shape it into a small ball with your hands. Do this with the rest of the cake mix, it should be consistent.
  6. Refrigerate overnight or put them in the freezer for a couple of hours ( covered in saran wrap).
  7. Melt your remaining icing and add food colouring if you want it.
  8. Stick Popsicle sticks into your cake balls and dip them into your melted icing. let remaining icing drip off. ( I advise that you hold them at an angle so the icing doesn't make the top look bumpy)
  9. Add your sprinkles
  10. stick the cake pop into the Styrofoam to let it dry
  11. put them in the fridge overnight to store
And voila! It sounds like a lot but honestly it was a piece of cake.. get it? Yah, good sense of humor Amy..
